25th Jan 2016, judge's house hit by Saudi led coalition airstrike killing family of in Sanaa, Yemen

On 25th January 2016 at 3am, Judge Yahia Robaid and 8 members of his family were killed, including 4 children and 3 women, and 2 others including 1 woman was injured. Judge Rubaid was a judge on a case against Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, for treason in absentia. On the same night, the headquaters for 'Evidence of Criminal Research' building was also targeted by 2 airstrikes. As stated in the Foreign Policy publication "there was no legally valid basis for bombing his home, as he and his family were civilians and under international law should not have been deliberately targeted".

The destroyed Sanaa house of Judge Yahya Roubaid, after it was hit in an airstrike carried out by the Saudi-led coalition, killing eight people.

In the capital of Sanaa, all that remains of the home where Judge Yahya Rubaid and his family once lived is a metal skeleton, chunks of concrete dangling from what used to be his living room. An airstrike hit at 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 25, as the judge and his wife, children, and grandchildren slept. A second strike followed shortly after, the sound echoing through the city.

According to family members, Rubaid was a judge on a case against Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, for treason in absentia. It is unclear whether his house was attacked for this reason. What is clear, however, is that there was no legally valid basis for bombing his home, as he and his family were civilians and under international law should not have been deliberately targeted.

Mohammed Abdullah, Rubaid’s nephew, recalled digging through mounds of rubble, finding no bodies beneath.

“We immediately ran to my uncle’s home and frantically began looking for their bodies to see who had survived,” he said. He called one of his daughters’ phones and heard its muffled ringing close by. When Abdullah returned to dig once more for signs of life, he soon realized that buried beneath the gray stones were body parts — lumps of flesh, bone, and sinew. A few feet away, half of Rubaid’s body was found on top of a gas station opposite his bedroom.

“We lost count of how many body parts we had found; no one was whole,” he said.

23rd Dec 2015, 16 people killed including 9 children when Saudi led coalition strike 3 families in Yemen on the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet

On the 23rd of December 2015, the night of the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Mohammed, the Saudi led coalition airstrikes hit 3 families in the region of Saada, Yemen, killing a total of 16 people including at least 9 children, and seriously injuring others.

The first strike took place in the valley of Amllah in Kitaf directorate, which resulted in two families being killed, including everyone from the Al Ezy family, which was a total of 11 people killed, including 9 children, 1 man and 1 woman. There was just one survivor, an injured and traumatised mother. Rescue efforts continued despite fears of another raid.

A second strike occurred on the outskirts of the Al Safra directorate just minutes after the first raid, hitting the house of civilian Mr Salah Al Argaly, resulting in 5 members of his family being killed and the rest of the family members being injured and left in a critical condition.

14th Dec 2014, 10 killed including 5 children when Saudi led airstrikes target civilian houses in Haifan, Taiz, Yemen

In the night of 14th December 2015, after evening prayers, the Saudi led coalition airstrikes targeted several residential homes in Haifan directorate, in Taiz province, Yemen. An entire family of 10 were killed, 5 of whom were children, and another 2 people were injured.

A neighbor said, “The Saudis bombarded the house of Mohamed Saad Makreet. They were very modest people with no connection to politics”. Another commented “The international silence is shameful and it’s a disgrace to ignore such gruesome crimes."

9th Dec 2015, 4 people killed 12 wounded in Dhamar province when Saudi led coalition strike a home in Yemen

On the morning of Wednesday, December 9th 2015, the Saudi led coalition airstrikes targeted the house of Abdul Karim Al-Bukhaiti, in the village of Almalhaa, Al Hada District in Dhamar province in Yemen. At least 4 people were killed, 1 of whom was a child, and 12 more were wounded.

This was reported as a double tap strike with the second raid targeting a paramedic who was attempting to rescue the wounded from under the rubble.
